Joey Nelson

Joey Nelson leads the Innovation Team at Heirloom (a company scaling Direct Air Capture of CO2 to fight climate change). He holds a PhD in Geological and Environmental Science from Stanford University and has been working on solving impactful geochemical issues for over 10 years.

Joey is also passionate about creating welcoming spaces for a diversity of identities in STEM and Climate. He has been a collaborator on the National Queer in STEM research project, was the president of the Stanford Chapter of Out in STEM, and now serves as one of the Bay Area Leads for Out in Climate.
